Once Saved, Always Saved, & Being Saved
“Do you believe in ‘Once Saved, Always Saved’”?
That is a pretty common and basic question among Christians these days, and as the believers in Christ, we certainly should believe in that; namely, that our eternal salvation has already been fully secured through the death and resurrection of Christ.
But, if we are willing to receive “the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27) in the New Testament, we will soon realize that there is also a sense in which we are still being saved (e.g., Rom. 5:10, Phil. 2:12-13, 1 Peter 1:9, 4:17).
How can we reconcile what seem to be two different views of salvation? The answer is, by understanding that, on the one hand, our eternal destiny is already secure in Christ. But, on the other hand, we cannot yet have the assurance that we will be with Christ for His 1,000 year kingdom on the earth; that will be determined by how faithful we are to follow Christ in this age, and will only be finally decided when we as the believers in Christ stand before His judgment seat at the end of this age (2 Cor. 5:10).
And that is what we consider in this series of Brief Notes on the Christian life.
“Let Us Also…Run with Endurance the Race that is Set Before Us”
Do we, like Paul, realize that our Christian life is a race we must run if we are to win the prize?

The false teaching of security without responsibility has frustrated so many believers in their Christian life

We Are Still “Being Saved”
…because we are not yet fully conformed to the image of Christ

Why does Paul add that little word?

The ongoing salvation we have in Christ is absolutely a matter of His divine life working in our inward parts

Witness Lee used a very down-to-earth example to show the importance, in our walk with the Lord, of knowing the difference between our spirit and our soul

We may have a very different view from what the apostle Paul had regarding the importance of our human spirit
One Thousand Years

Only when we see that, throughout the Bible, one side of the truth balances the other, can we properly interpret the Scripture
“One Free In Every Box!”
We should not treat the New Testament the way my friend treated that box of ice cream bars!
Once Saved, Always Saved, & Being Saved (1)
To follow Christ as we should, we must be clear about the ongoing aspect of our salvation
