Today when we preach the gospel, our goal should not merely be to get people to heaven, but rather, to bring the kingdom of the heavens to the earth. It is when God has His kingdom, His ruling among men, that He can carry out His work of building up the church. In this way He will arrive at His ultimate goal, which is to have the holy city, the New Jerusalem, come down from heaven to the earth as His eternal dwelling place with mankind (Rev. 21:1-3, 10).
