“Anyway, Lord”…
Sometimes this may just be
the most important
prayer of all
Recently I have just appreciated the simple phrase, “Anyway, Lord”…
We may be so discouraged regarding our following of Christ and our failure to know Him in a deeper way, or regarding how limited and shallow our prayer life is, or how little we even know His word, and come to the point where we feel our situation is hopeless:
“Anyway, Lord”…
Or, in contrast, we may feel we have gained some spiritual attainment before the Lord, and some real stature with Him in Christ:
“Anyway, Lord”…
Or, we may consider that after so many years there is very little prospect of the Lord’s work advancing, of seeing His testimony raised up in a fresh way:
“Anyway, Lord”…
Or we may have had some kind of effectiveness or success, according to how we see it at least, in the Lord’s work:
“Anyway, Lord”…
At such times we need need to come out of all of these considerations, and all that occupies and concerns us, to exercise the faith to just open to the Lord in a fresh way and tell Him,
“Anyway, Lord, we just forget about all of that, and take You as our unique focus and unique hope.”
This is to truly, in our experience, give up on ourselves and to enter into Christ once again. Then we will know the real situation in all of these matters, and the Lord will have a way to shine in us and direct us as He alone knows best.
